Even the most successful baseball hitters have a great deal of failure. Handling that failure is the key. I try to give players something to help in the form of a quick mantra like RBI, when things do not go according to the hitting plans. RBI stands for Relax, Breathe, Improve. Instead of beating themselves up after outs, players learn to say RBI, an obvious baseball term for runs batted in so its an easy thing to remember. Immediately thinking relax, breathe, improve helps them prevent the negative energy from getting too upset after hitting failures.
