Athlete's Perspective is Key

Parents are responsible for building a proper athlete's perspective in their young player. Unfortunately, many do not or expect that process to come from their sports coach. Of course, the best case scenario is having their coach and parents develop positive character traits in youth. The best athlete's perspective is one that helps them understand concepts like pride, humility, teamwork, focus, work ethic and confidence.

As mentioned, gaining a great athlete's perspective is a process that takes place over a young player's athletic career. Parents have many opportunities to not only teach players how to conduct themselves, but they also can display ethical behavior in their own lives. Nothing teaches kids like example does. Parents who say one thing and yet go out and act in different ways create confusion in athletes.
