Dealing with Adversity begins with these

Nowhere is parenting more vital than helping athletes battle through the inevitable tough times. Dealing with adversity is what makes the difference for a long, rather than short, playing career. With the help of the players' coaches, parents can help players learn to breathe, visualize, gain an optimistic outlook and remain on an even keel for the good and bad times. Having the resiliency to get back up after failure is the mark of a gritty athlete and one who has positive support behind them. Without the strong support of parents and coaches, most players quit because they never learned to deal with failure. I see it often, players lose interest and confidence because of overdemanding coaches and parents. Why adults expect kids to be able to deal with failure without teaching them how is one of the biggest problems in youth sports. Educating the adults is crucial for helping athletes become betteron and off the playingfields.

Following are some great parent tips to try for helping your child when they are dealing with adversity. Feel free to print these tips for your player parents to help their kids in their sports careers.
