Coaches at every level of sport must be good at coaching life too. Emphasizing the following, "How you do is not who you are," is crucial for kids, especially those most into sport. Too many athletes and their parents define individuals by how well they perform on the field. When asked how their son or daughter is, they immediately respond with their recent baseballstatistics, good or bad ones. Adults must explain that sports' play is onlyone small part of who a person is. Every coach must use the word, "Forgetaboutit," after tough games and practices.
After playing major league baseball, Jack Perconte has taught baseball and softball since 1988 and offered valuable coaching training too. He has helped numerous youth players reach their potential, as well as having helped parents and coaches navigate their way through the challenging world of youth sports. Jack is one of the leading authorities in the areas of youth baseball training and coaching training advice.
