Indications of high character players are not getting too upset after failure, cheering on others, hustle and thanking coaches for things. Of course, the ideal situation is having talented players who have high character. But, for coaches looking for a balanced and harmonious team, it may be best to sacrifice a little talent for high character players. Kids learned that character from parents, and having high character parents is often the key to coaching success. Of course, teaching or reinforcing solid character traits is another responsibility of the coach.
