Changing the Game Project, Positive Coaching Alliance are must use coaching resources

First, I have no affiliation with the Changing the Game Project or with the Positive Coaching Alliance. I only know what I read about them on line. If I want to help youth as I say I do in my bio and with all my writing, I would be remiss not to proclaim the value of other products and sources of information in the field. Also, it takes a group effort to change the current youth sports culture for the better. Even though I have many solutions for the perils of youth coaches, I do not have all of them.

The more I read their agenda, the more I learn and the more compelled I feel to keep growing with my similar mission of helping kids prosper in the world of sports. As the saying goes, great minds think alike just kidding. Of course, I wish I could say that everything is free with the things I recommend, but the world doesn't work that way. Just remember, you get what you pay for, and nothing in life is free.

In my new book, Creating a Season to Remember, I often point out the need for coaches to stay ahead of the curve by continuing to learn how to work with people and develop the skills of the game. I also suggest in the book that coaches read everything they can find about the Changing the Game Project and the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Just a check of the daily news tells us the current state of youth sports is not trending in the right direction. Reports of altercations, lawsuits, and coaching abuse occur daily. If you are serious about being a role model for youth, you must further your education by checking out the products and website of the Changing the Game Project. Not only is the book helpful and much needed in today's youth games, John O'Sullivan and the project gang have a video series and other valuable items to help coach's do the job the way it should be done to make the games about the kids again.

I certainly cannot state their mission, and mine, as well as is done on the Changing the Game Project website:

Being the parent or coach of a young athlete is an art, not a science. Science is exact, and A plus B always equals C. But sports coaching and parenting are different. Your children are your blank canvas, and years from now, they will be the culmination of the messages they have received, the opportunities they have had, and the values they have learned by being an athlete. Like art, in coaching and parenting there are infinite textures, colors, and styles of that all lead to the final product, and no two kids are the same. You will have to constantly learn, to adapt, to listen, and be ready to change on the fly as you navigate your child's athletic career, but stick with it. Raising a young athlete can be brilliant, it can be exasperating, but ultimately it can be the most wonderful and rewarding experience of our life.

As facetiously mentioned early about great minds, I state that message in my new book Creating a season to remember and believe the way they do at the Changing the Game Project. Look into it; you will not be disappointed.

Jack recommends the Positive Coaching Alliance

I've been in the youth sports coaching business for 28 years now. I have seen many changes over the years. Perhaps the most striking one has been the push, push, push mentality from the adults coaches and parents alike. Sports is big business now, with the quest to win, be the best and attain scholarships at all-time highs. I have tried to do my part to impart a better perspective with my dealing with people and with my writing. But, it reaches nowhere near the numbers that the Positive Coaching Alliance does.

If there is any group out there that I believe in their mission more than the Positive Coaching Alliance, I have yet to find it. My new book, Creating a Season to Remember is 312 pages of positive coaching, spurred in part by the philosophy of the Alliance. Yes, they are the Star Wars of the movement to create a better sports world.

Their mission statement, taken from their website, is short and sweet:
The Positive Coaching Alliance mission is to transform the youth sports culture into adevelopment zonewhere all youth and high school athletes have a positive, character-building experience that results in better athletes, better people.

Yes! All youth coaches should be, at the least, following the blog at the Positive Coaching Alliance. The PCA, you know you are powerful when people recognize you by your initials, has great advice, programs and courses to help coaches keep things in the proper perspective. Namely, that coaches can provide the life altering moves to help athletes grow and mature into productive, fun loving people. Founder Jim Thompson has done unbelievable things to help the necessary leadership changes for sports and youth. It takes an Alliance to make a difference, get on board with them.
