Listen close young hitters - I have had some ballplayers that could smoke balls off the batting tee but had little batting success in games. But here is the important thing - In 26 years of coaching, I have never had a successful hitter in games that was not very good on the batting tee. Sure some players may have limited success without being good off the batting tee, but their in game hitting suffers once challenged. So, coaches, once a player says they are not very good hitting balls sitting on a tee, inform the players they are in trouble if their tee ball hitting does not improve. Hitting is tee ball with timing - believe it.
